Season (Drcv`bKvj) ঃ Planting/Sowing: December – January
• Soil (gvwU)ঃ All type of soil. Loamy soil is the best. Soil should be well drained and rich in organic matter.
• Water (cvwb)ঃ Adequate watering during vegetative, flowering and fruiting stage.
a) Method of cultivation- 15-18 days old seedlings are transplanted in well prepared pit in the main field.
Spacingঃ 2 X 1.5 m
Population per hectare ঃ About 3333 plants/ ha
e) Manures and fertilizers (Per hectare )
Cowdungঃ 5 t/ha
Urea:150 kg/ha
TSP:175 kg/ha
MP:150 kg/ha
Gypsum:150 kg/ha
Zinc sulphate (Monohydrate):14 kg/ha
Boric acid:14 kg/ha
Application Methodঃ Entire cow dung, P, S, Zn, B and 1/3 of K to be applied during pit preparation at least 7-10 days before transplanting. Rest of K to be applied in two equal installments at 15 and 30 days after transplanting. N to be applied in 4 equal installments at 10, 25, 40 and 55 days after transplanting.
f) Intercultural operationsঃ Weeding, irrigation and other crop management practices are done as per requirement.
Harvestingঃ Harvesting starts after 80 days of sowing for consumption.
