BARI Mungbean-4 : This variety was developed through hybridization program. In  1984, cross was made between BARIMung-2 (kanti) which was high yielding and early maturity and Sonamung which is scented and tasty. After generation advancement and 5 years multi location trial it was released as BARIMung-4 in 1996 from National Seed Board.

 

BARI Mung-5: This variety was developed through introduction. As a part of collaborative research between AVRDC and BARI, we received some promising line from AVRDC. Those lines were evaluated under the close supervision of breeder for 5 years and after that one of the promising  line namely NM-92 was released as BARIMung-5 in 1997 from Nation Seed Board.
